Your data, kept simple.
01Who we are
Play Area is a creative production studio based in Dublin, Ireland. This site is run by Play Area, and we are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us any time at hello@playarea.ie.
02The short version
We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not use cookies to follow you around. We collect as little as we can to keep the site working and the games fair.
03What we collect
Basic visit statistics: our site is hosted on Framer, which records anonymous, aggregated page view numbers without cookies. Server and delivery logs: our hosting and video delivery providers (Framer and Bunny.net) briefly process technical data such as your IP address and browser type so pages and videos can load quickly and securely. Game scores: if you choose to enter the leaderboard on one of our games, we store the initials you type, your score and the time it was set. Please do not enter anything that identifies you. Emails: if you email us, we keep the conversation so we can reply and work with you.
04Stored on your device
We use your browser's local storage to remember things like your best score, your leaderboard initials and whether you switched on Boring Mode. This stays on your device, is not a tracking cookie, and you can clear it any time from your browser settings.
05Who helps us
Framer (website hosting and analytics), Bunny.net (video streaming) and Supabase (game leaderboard database). Each processes data only to provide its service to us. Some of these providers may process data outside the EEA, protected by safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
06Why we use it
We rely on our legitimate interest in running a fast, secure website and fun games, and on your consent when you choose to submit a score or email us.
07How long we keep it
Leaderboard entries stay up while the game is live, unless you ask us to remove one. Emails are kept for as long as we are working together, and then for as long as the law requires. Delivery logs are kept by our providers for short periods only.
08Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Just email hello@playarea.ie. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie.
09Changes
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date below.
